S3e4: Eww. Just Eww.

The season 3 graphic for family friendly podcast, Reading with the Rockefellers, which features art inspired by the cover of the book King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard. It is book 3 of the Red Queen series featuring main character Mare Barrow.

Sigh… We’re here with Mare after her interrogation with Samson. She’s exhausted and feels dissected. Maven is here to make sure that she has suffered and yet, play cat and mouse with her. Once he has her back under his thumb, his next plan for her is right out of the Calore/ Merandus playbook. There’s even a slithering red dress for her to wear. This episode might be a James Bond movie…

The conversation is so good that we don’t get many references in but if this episode makes you feel the same way it makes us feel, we’re here for you. We do manage to at least work Spaceballs in, so we have some humor for you.

S3e4: Cameron’s Opinion Hour

The season 3 graphic for family friendly podcast, Reading with the Rockefellers, which features art inspired by the cover of the book King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard. It is book 3 of the Red Queen series featuring main character Mare Barrow.

We’ve finally made it to our first non-Mare chapter! The bad news is, it’s a Cameron chapter. We do find out that Maven kept his word and that all of her group was released. Tuck was evacuated and the survivors have been moved to a new underground base. When we join Cameron there, we catch up with some favorites. Farley is pouring over maps while shoveling in food, the Colonel is stalking around the control room watching the unrest in Corvium, and Cal is holed up in a comms room. A very big comms room…

During the address Maven gives, our rebels find out that Mare has been interrogated. Cal is horrified to find out that Samson did it. Mare was kept in the dark on a lot of things but not so much that Samson wouldn’t have gotten some valuable information. Cameron is taking all of this, and Maven’s behavior, in and starting to piece some things together with his status in the capital.

The references in this one are pretty great. We touch on everything from DVR habits in the mid 00’s to Woodstock ‘99: Trainwreck with some stops at Lost, Mean Girls, and Ghostbusters 2 in the middle. It’ll keep you laughing even though some of the subject matter isn’t always funny. Your emotional support podcast is always here for you.

The season 3 graphic for family friendly podcast, Reading with the Rockefellers, which features art inspired by the cover of the book King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard. It is book 3 of the Red Queen series featuring main character Mare Barrow.

Mare finally gets taken out of her gilded cage and she knows exactly where she’s being taken, a room where death has happened in front of her. No one is expecting her and Evangeline is trying to make a very public point. The consequences for her words land on Mare and she is spared no mercy.

Beth is real mad this week. Who needs a shower?

References this week include Homestar Runner, classic SNL moments, and the obligatory Hunger Games. We’ve got big opinions and you won’t want to miss it.

The season 3 graphic for family friendly podcast, Reading with the Rockefellers, which features art inspired by the cover of the book King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard. It is book 3 of the Red Queen series featuring main character Mare Barrow.

This week, Mare is constantly guarded but feels alone. Silent stone keeps her powers out of her reach and Maven never comes to visit. The pity parties are back and in full effect. Now that she has nothing to do but think, it’s the Mare we’ve come to know (and love?)

When she finally does get a visitor, it’s someone she didn’t expect and they take her somewhere she never wanted to revisit. Where is she going and what will happen when she gets there?

References come fast and include The Ring, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and more of your favorites. We apologize for the sound on the episode. We have some electrical interference that we are working out. Thanks for all you do!!
